Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his appreciation for the UN General Assembly's recent vote in support of the UN Security Council's reconsideration of Palestine's full UN membership. The vote, which received overwhelming support, was seen as a positive step towards achieving international recognition for Palestine.

In a statement following the vote, Abbas thanked the countries that backed the resolution, emphasizing that it aligns with international law and reflects a global consensus on condemning the occupation and its violations of international legitimacy. He reiterated the State of Palestine's commitment to pursuing full UN membership through the Security Council's decision.

Abbas also called on the United States to refrain from using its veto power and to endorse the Palestinian Authority's bid for full UN membership. He viewed the vote as a significant milestone that not only granted the Palestinian Authority enhanced rights within the UN system but also served as a reaffirmation of international legitimacy and law, essential for fostering regional peace.

The President's remarks underscored the importance of international support in advancing the Palestinian cause and addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian people. The vote at the UN General Assembly was hailed as a positive development that could pave the way for further diplomatic efforts to secure full UN membership for Palestine.
