Palestine rallies to take place across Scotland this weekend – see where they are

ACTIVISTS are set to gather at a number of demonstrations across Scotland this weekend to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee has announced protests in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen on Saturday.

This comes after two national demonstrations took place in Scotland calling for a ceasefire, one in Glasgow on November 18 and another in Edinburgh on December 2.

See the full list of demonstrations below.

  • Edinburgh: 1pm, Wellington Statue on East Princes Street
  • Glasgow: 1pm, Buchanan Gallery steps
  • Dundee: 12pm, opposite Barclays bank
  • Aberdeen: 11am outside Barclays on 163 Union Street, move to Town House for demonstration 12:30pm

The Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee is made up of multiple organisations, including the Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Palestine Action Scotland, Scottish Human Rights Forum and Muslim Council of Scotland.

The demonstrations will take place three days after the UN General Assembly voted to demand a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

A total of 153 nations backed a motion calling for a ceasefire while 23 abstained and 10 voted against.

Earlier this week, Stephen Flynn challenged Rishi Sunak at PMQs on how 153 nations could vote for a ceasefire while the UK has continually refused to back this.

The 153 countries to back calls for a ceasefire included Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Spain, and Japan.
