Palantir Technologies rose on Friday and seemed on track to end with a gain for the second straight week. Palantir stock has advanced 17% in 2025, though shares are off nearly 30% from its all-time high of 125.41 on Feb. 19.
On the stock market today, Palantir stock rose more than 2% to 89.56 in afternoon trading.
Further, PLTR stock has clawed back to near its 50-day moving average, a key technical level. But institutional ownership has weakened.
Palantir is among artificial intelligence stocks to watch. Many of last year's hot AI stocks have struggled, including chipmaker Nvidia, Arista Networks and Salesforce. Nvidia and Arista are engaged in an AI networking battle.
In addition, Nvidia stock looks set to close the week down despite hosting its GTC conference. Nvidia stock has shed nearly 13% this year.
Palantir stock got a boost last week from its AI conference for customers.
Palantir stock suddenly pulled back in late February, ostensibly tied to possible Department of Defense budget cuts. One concern is Palantir's exposure to U.S. Army contracts.
Palantir Stock Technical Ratings
Some stocks with exposure to the U.S. federal government spending sold off this week, including Accenture and Booz Allen Hamilton after Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon was canceling $580 million in contracts.
Meanwhile, Palantir's Relative Strength Rating stands at 99 out of a best-possible 99.
Also, Palantir stock holds a Composite Rating of 98 out of a best-possible 99, according to IBD Stock Checkup. IBD's Composite Rating combines five separate proprietary ratings into one easy-to-use rating. The best growth stocks have a Composite Rating of 90 or better.
PLTR stock holds an Accumulation/Distribution Rating of D. That rating analyzes price and volume changes in a stock over the past 13 weeks of trading. A+ signifies heavy institutional buying; E means heavy selling. Think of a C grade as neutral.
