AIADMK general secretary Edappdi K. Palaniswami said on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin deserved “to be given a Nobel Prize” for making statements contrary to the truth.
Referring to Mr. Stalin’s description of him as ‘Poi (lies) Palaniswami’, the AIADMK leader, in a statement, claimed that it was the Chief Minister who was “well trained in telling lies.” He asked if the Chief Minister could deny that all the projects and schemes, inaugurated after the DMK came to power, were initiated during the previous AIADMK regime. “Would it become all right if welfare schemes implemented by us [the previous AIADMK government] were scrapped and new schemes launched instead?” Mr Palaniswami wondered.
Even though 18 months had lapsed since the Chief Minister had warned his party office-bearers that he would have to conduct himself like a dictator if they erred, this had not yet happened, as “anti-people” activities of the ruling party’s functionaries continued, he alleged.
In the area of public transport, Mr. Palaniswami charged that the DMK regime, in the past 29 months, had not purchased any new buses. “More than 40% of the fleet is not functioning. Can Mr. Stalin state what he has achieved, except getting an order issued to extend the life of old buses?” the AIADMK leader asked, adding that only in 30% of buses were women able to avail of free rides.
