Pakistani security forces conducted three separate raids on militant hideouts in northwest Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, resulting in the killing of 19 insurgents, the military confirmed on Tuesday. The operations also led to the unfortunate deaths of three soldiers.
The military disclosed that 16 insurgents were neutralized in raids carried out in the northwestern Peshawar and Mohmand districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Additionally, three insurgents were eliminated in a separate assault in Karak, also within the same province.
During the confrontations, three soldiers lost their lives, displaying the high risks and sacrifices made by the security forces in combating terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the troops for their successful operations against the insurgents. They also honored the fallen soldiers as martyrs in separate statements.
In response to the escalating threat posed by militant groups, Pakistan has intensified intelligence-based operations against the Pakistani Taliban. The Pakistani Taliban has grown more aggressive following the Afghan Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Although distinct entities, the TTP maintains a close alliance with the Afghan Taliban.
