A new restaurant has opened offering iconic meals and tastes from the countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Shinwari opened its doors on April 5 2022 with those behind the eatery saying they “feel so blessed to be opening during the holy month of Ramadan.”
The restaurant is located at 46 Lady Lawson Street which is situated between the Meadows and Edinburgh Castle in an ideal city centre location.
Those behind the business say that they marked the opening with an Iftar buffet for family and friends on April 4.

Each day throughout the month of Ramadan, Shinwari will be putting on a special Iftar buffet with a selection of starters, mains and desserts for hungry diners.
For £13.99, diners can tuck into the buffet.
Among the options often advertised as starters are: fruit chaat, vegetarian and meat samosas, vegetarian pakora, potato fritters, chicken and lamb kobeda kebab, steam chicken leg and chicken wings amongst many others that vary from day to day.
Whereas for the mains there are options of: Lamb shinwari karahi, chicken charsi karahi, kadhi pakora, daal tarka, channa masala, chicken biryani and naan amongst many other options that also very from day to day.
The desserts tend to be a variation of custard, fruits and kheer with rooh afza available as a beverage.
On the new restaurant, those behind the business posted on Instagram: “A perfect blend of Pakistan and Afghanistan flavours and spices for the palate.
“Try our range of traditional famous dishes like shinwari karahi, mutka biryani, kuna gosht, steam lamb, namken roshand don’t forget the thrill of the grill.
“We also provide outside catering.”
