Paisley thug torched two cars and a business premises in late-night attack

Police are appealing for information following two deliberate and 'reckless' fires in Paisley.

The first caused minor damage to the rear of a premises on McKenzie Street.

Police were alerted to reports of the fire at 12:15am on Monday.

Around the same time, officers then received a report of two vehicles on fire in a nearby yard. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Thankfully, nobody was injured in either of the incidents.

Police have confirmed that both fires are being treated as deliberate and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Detective Constable Barry Gourley, of Paisley CID, said: "Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this reckless behaviour.

"We are keeping an open mind that the two incidents may be connected and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and who may have seen anything suspicious, to get in touch.

"Anyone with information should contact officers via 101 quoting reference 0138 of Monday, May 23.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
