Paisley Rugby Club suffered a narrow defeat on home soil in blustery conditions that made it extremely difficult to play attractive rugby.
The visitors Oban went ahead early at the Anchor with a try on the ten-minute mark that wasn’t converted.
The home side clawed their way back into the tie thanks to a well-taken penalty from club captain Euan Stuart, from just outside the 22.
With the game delicately poised at half-time, Oban fought hard and stretched their lead to 5-12 with a converted try on the left side of the field.
Paisley winger Dan Caine struck back after a fine run down the wing, with Cameron Cobb’s conversion just falling short of the posts.
And that left the scores at 8-12, with Oban just escaping Paisley with the win.
