Paisley police officer evacuates flats after coming across takeaway fire on way back to station

Firefighters and emergency crew raced to a takeaway in Paisley after a fire broke out inside.

Aladdin's Tandoori on Johnston Street went up in flames at around 11.15 pm on Thursday night with smoke filling the rooms of the flats above.

Residents in the homes just yards away were unaware of the danger they faced until being alerted by a police officer on his way back to the station. An officer happened to be walking back to Mill Street station when he saw the blaze and ran into the buildings to alert locals.

Three people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Fire rescue crews remain at the scene this morning.
