Paisley police comb gardens after man critically injured in murder bid

Police have been knocking doors and combing gardens after a man was found critically injured on a Paisley street.

Pictures show officers carrying out a painstaking search of the area around Ferguslie Park Avenue where the 43-year-old was attacked on Friday night.

The images were taken yesterday as detectives renewed their appeal to the public to help find the person responsible, the Paisley Daily Express reports.

Detective Inspector Gary Sergeant from Paisley CID is eager to speak with anyone who may have information that can help the inquiry, that is being treated as attempted murder.

In a renewed appeal for information, he said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to any drivers who may have dashcam footage or anyone locally who may have private CCTV footage.”

CID has secured the crime scene with officers carrying out door-to-door enquiries and combing the area for any evidence.

“They are also checking CCTV footage.

And Detective Inspector John Aikman from Paisley CID added: “Any information from the community is essential in a case like this.

“We have officers out on the ground just now speaking to as many people as they can for information to catch the perpetrator or perpetrators.”

At around 9.40pm on Friday night, police received a report of a man with serious injuries near Ferguslie Park Avenue at the junction with Barochan Way.

Emergency services attended and the 43-year-old man was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
