Paisley flat filled with rubbish sells for six times its £10,000 asking price

A Paisley property with a sink full of dishes and rooms full of rubbish has sold for six times its £10,000 asking price.

The first-floor two-bedroom flat on Cochrane Street went up for auction on Thursday at an Auction House Scotland event.

According to Zoopla, the apartment was the second-cheapest property on sale in the Renfrewshire town, writes the Daily Record.

The property has been described as a 'doer upper' by Auctioneers, with the flat packed full of old coats, an ironing board, old cans of energy drinks and manky old cups left by the sink. The lucky buyer will have a substantial clean-up job on their hands after picking up the keys.

Images shared by Auction House Scotland ahead of the November 3 sale showed the kitchen was littered with rubbish, half-used jars of coffee and even a bottle of washing-up liquid by the sink, which was filled with grubby plates.

The two bedrooms are described as 'generously sized' and the living room, which includes a couple of electric heaters, is said to be large.

The Cochrane Street flat was snapped up for £59,500 – far more than the starting bid, but below the sale price of other flats on the same road, which went for between £79,000 and £93,000, according to the auction house.

The Paisley property is the latest of eye-catching items to make headlines for their questionable state.

However, the auctioneer has clearly had the last laugh, selling onto a happy investor who will likely be able to turn a profit after putting in the work to make the flat look brand new.
