A Paisley dad has been fined after a drunken outburst caused his partner to call 999.
Kevin McGroarty, of Clavering Street West in the town, spent the afternoon drinking on March 19 and ended the day by calling the mother of his child a ‘f*****g grass’ when she called the police to report his behaviour.
McGroarty, 37, admitted at Paisley Sheriff Court he caused fear or alarm on March 19 at his home address by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner contrary to Section 38(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.
The procurator fiscal depute explained: “Around 8.20pm the accused and the witness, Elaine McCaig were within their home watching TV.
“The accused had been out drinking all afternoon and had recently returned home.
“An argument ensued between the accused and the witness and as a result he asked Elaine to leave the room with the baby, but she refused to do so.
“Upon refusing, the accused became irate and was shouting and swearing.
“During the course of this, he threw a mobile phone. The witness was upset by this and contacted the police.
“The accused continued to shout and swear stating ‘F*****g grass’ numerous times.
“This was heard on the 999 recording and the 999 operative could hear a disturbance in the background.
“Police attended and noted the witness to be upset and crying.
“Officers were unable to trace the accused and returned to the station to listen to the 999 call.
“The accused presented himself to police officers the following day and provided a 'no comment' interview and was released on an undertaking.”

Defence agent Charlie McCusker told the court McGroarty was “deeply ashamed of his behaviour.”
He added: “He has already taken steps to address his alcohol problems.
“On this day he drank too much and behaved in this way.
“He has a 21-month-old child and his partner is keen for him to return to the family home.”
Sheriff Grant Hutchison imposed a fine of £320 and ordered it to be paid at £10 per fortnight.
