Paisley cops appeal for information on building site fire

Cops are appealing for information following a deliberate fire at a building site in Paisley this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the site on Blackstoun Road in Ferguslie Park at 2.30am this morning.

Scottish Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the fire, which police are treating as wilful.

There was no one within the building site at the time, however, there has been damage caused. Detectives are assessing the site to find out the cost of the damage.

Detective Constable Martyn Renfrew, of Paisley CID, said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Sunday, 10 April, is urged to get in touch.

“If you were driving and have dash-cam that could assist with our enquiries, then I would also urge you to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference number 0540 of Sunday, April 10, 2022.

“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 111 555, where anonymity can be maintained.”
