A talented conductor is looking for singers to join his new choir, Paisley Senior Singers.
Ian McCallum, who was part of the Paisley Abbey choir for over 20 years and has also sung in the Notre Dame in Paris, is looking to get the choir up and running for September 7, 2022.
The talented conductor started a group called the Kilbarchan Singers 40 years ago which started with only six singers and then built up to 30 singers from all over the Renfrewshire area.

The group did many tours extensively throughout Scotland, Germany on three occasions and in France too which also included a successful audition to conduct in the Notre Dame.
Since retiring from the group, Ian is wanting to start up the new choir for mature singers in the area after having already received some interest.
Ian, 75, said: “I have been a choir master for churches around in the area and there is a good nucleus of singers there, who are of a mature sort of age, and I have received some encouragement from some of my contacts to look into this venture.
“I am very keen to do it, I am very keen to attract a more mature type of singer who is perhaps not doing much nowadays. I am prepared to train and work with the singers of all disciplines, whether they can read music or not
“I have gotten to the stage where I am investigating a venue and I am looking to do rehearsals in the Wynd Centre in Paisley on Wednesdays.”
Ian is hoping that the creation of the new choir will stimulate interest with those that are a bit older and are looking to get out of the house to have some fun and get a chance to socialise.
Ian added: “I think the music that I have chosen will be something that people will enjoy, that is very important. They will come along, have fun, meet people, give them a focus in their lives to know that on every Wednesday at 11am they can meet people who are similar minded.”
Ian is looking forward to making the Paisley Senior Singers a long term commitment.
The rehearsal sessions are looking to take place at the Wynd Centre from September 7 from 11am to 1pm.
