Paisley baseball bat gang in white car chase down man in street attack

Paisley police are seeking information after a man was attacked by four men with baseball bats over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon at around 1.20pm, a 45-year-old man was chased by a white car in Whitesbridge Avenue in Paisley. The men jumped from the car and ran after the victim, before seriously injuring him and returning to the vehicle.

The assailants drove off in an unknown direction, with the injured man taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital where he is receiving treatment. Officers are checking CCTV footage from around the area, looking for information on both the suspects and the vehicle.

Three of the men have been described by the police. The first is white, in his early 40’s, with a stocky build with a heavy stubble and short brown hair - dressed in a black tracksuit with a white t-shirt.

The second is also white, wearing a grey puffer jacket zipped to the top with the hood up. The third assailant, also white, is approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build - wearing a black tracksuit.

There is no information on the fourth suspect at this time. Detective Constable James Campbell, Paisley CID, said: “While enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this attack, we believe it to be targeted.

“It was a vicious assault that happened in the middle of the day, weapons were used and the man was badly injured. We would appeal to anyone who may have seen the attack take place, who may have doorbell or dash-cam footage capturing the incident, or who has any information that will assist the investigation to come forward.

“Information can be passed to police via 101. Please quote reference number 1791 of Saturday, 29 October 2022 when calling. Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
