A Paisley author has self-published his first ever book on Amazon with some thinking it could be a Scottish TV series.
The novel, called Heriot Court, takes the reader to Paisley and follows a girl, called Andrea Buchanan, and the three different stages of her life: her childhood, teenage years and that of an adult.

Author Stephen McBride said: “I played in a band and then I had some back problems. I found myself in the house a lot and was feeling a bit bored and it was my daughter’s teacher that suggested that I should write a book.
“So, I started writing and let it see where it went. It wasn’t planned, it is totally fantasy. It is not based on any particular character. However, I did get insight into a lot of people’s lives - what happened to them and things they experienced throughout their lives.”
Stephen grew up in Paisley and the novel, which some readers may see as quite dark and having a few twists and turns, is also set in the Scottish town.
Stephen explains: “It is all set in Paisley and I know Paisley. I grew up here and a lot of the things are quite relevant to people here. A lot of people would get a lot of the things in the story such as what school was like at the time.”
