Pair of cyclists riding naked across the UK spotted in Bristol

A pair of cyclists riding across the UK naked were in Bristol this week. Neil Cox and Hannah Teoh enjoyed having drinks undressed at The Apple on Welsh Back during their time in the city on Wednesday (July 20).

The pair is cycling from Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in Scotland to raise funds for two charities. Neil Cox said they are four friends doing a naked bike ride across the UK, with two cycling from John O'Groats in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall and the other two - Neil and Hannah - the other way.

They are raising funds for Mind and Rewilding Britain, adding there is a connection between mental health and nature. The 33-year-old described himself as a naturist, saying he lives naked when he can.

Neil said: "I have always being undressed where I could.

"My current girlfriend is very supportive and over the last seven years I started to embrace it. In Hannah's case, she isn't a naturist but her attitude is why are people bothered about a body?

"She just wanted the bike ride and it is actually very enjoyable to be naked on a ride. On a wider sense, there is a sense of freedom around it.

"I get mental health benefits from it too - it de-stresses me. People have a lot of different reasons."

Neil, from Cheshire, said that most people have been overwhelming positive, making donations or offering things like water, and that most businesses have been fine with them being undressed. However, he said that both sets of riders have experienced one case of serious abuse.

In their case, they had a man being verbally abusive and making threats, while their friends were knocked down from their bikes.

"It is tiring, that is the main thing," he added. "We are not proper cyclists, we do running and we are fit but we are not out on our bikes every weekend.

"It was very hard work during the heatwave, I drank 10 litres of water on Monday."

The pair set off from Cornwall last Sunday and are hoping to be in John O'Groats on Sunday, July 31. They are now in Evesham in Worcestershire. You can donate here.
