'Pains me to say it' - Kris Boyd 'certain' Celtic will beat Rangers in title race

Rangers hero Kris Boyd has conceded he believes Celtic will be crowned Scottish Premiership champions again this season.

The former Ibrox striker was pained to reveal his expectations for the season with the pundit unable to look beyond Celtic.

For Boyd, there is just too much "chaos" surrounding Rangers for a genuine title challenge to be mounted despite Philippe Clement's ambition to transform the club.

Even with Clement tied down - having signed a new four-year deal on Friday - Boyd knows the task is gargantuan as the manager "doesn't have the kind of money required" for an overnight fix.

In his Scottish Sun column, Boyd wrote: "It breaks my heart to say this, but I think it’s certain Celtic will be champions again this season.

"Rangers are facing too much chaos at Ibrox right now to make me think they can win the league."

He continued: "The difference is that Philippe Clement doesn’t have the kind of money required to transform Rangers overnight.

"Despite the manager signing a new deal yesterday, there still seems to be too much chaos around Ibrox right now.

"At least Clement will be around to see the transformation the club needs.

"But let’s not get caught up in things. The only thing that matters for Rangers is winning games of football, not long-term visions.

"So I still see this as being a hugely painful season for the club’s supporters.
