Popular host-writer Padma Lakshmi took to social media today to announce that she has decided to leave the show 'Top Chef', which she hosted and executive produced for many years. The reason: she now wants to focus more on her books and other creative pursuits.
"After much soul searching I have made the difficult decision to leave 'Top Chef'," Padma said on social media.
"Having completed a glorious 20th season as host and executive producer, I am extremely proud to have been part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the world of television and food," she further said.
Sharing details of her future plans and thanking everyone, she added in the post, "After 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working alongside them dearly. I feel it's time to move on and need to make space for 'Taste of Nation', my books and other creative pursuits... I am deeply thankful to all of you for so many years of love and support," Padma said.
The Indian-American author has authored several books including a memoir, cookbooks, and a children's book titled 'Tomatoes for Neela' which was published in 2021.
