Paddy Pimblett warned against being complacent about fight with Logan Paul

Paddy Pimblett has been warned he could have a difficult time trying to submit Logan Paul if the pair fought in the UFC.

Pimblett recently scored victory in his second UFC fight recording a submission victory over Kazula Vargas in the promotion's hallmark London event. He has since been called out by YouTube star Paul whom he predicted he would easily submit.

But UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes Paul has proved he is tough in any combat sport after being knocked out in training by UFC star Paulo Costa. "Logan is meaningfully bigger, his credentials in wrestling are very clear, says that he has done jiu-jitsu, but he's got this great size advantage," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. "The Paul brothers are legitimately tough guys. I saw Logan fight, they called it spar, they called it practice, he fought Paulo Costa, he got knocked out.

"He was excited and happy when he got in there. He was excited and happy when it was going on, he was excited and happy when he woke up. Paddy has said he could submit Paul in an MMA contest but it is very hard to submit someone when they are punching you and dropping elbows at you.

"They can have this fun and go back and forth with Paddy but it will never happen within the UFC, but I will make the match right now. I'm not suggesting that Logan goes out there and beats Paddy, maybe he does submit him but size does matter."

Pimblett has an extensive background in MMA having signed for the UFC as Cage Warriors champion. He is yet to face a top fifteen competitor after declining the opportunity until the financial rewards are improved on his current deal.

The 27-year-old was later called out by Paul who believes he could beat him even if the fight took place in the UFC. However the 27-year-old believes he can submit Paul and would review an offer if the purse made sense. “He knows who the boy is, doesn’t he?," Pimblett told The Schmo. "He knows who will put bums on seats, lad. I can’t see him mentioning anyone else.

"I know he’s a lot bigger than me but I don’t think it really matters, to be honest. I think I’d submit him quite easily and quite quickly but you never know, anything can happen in a fight. If Logan Paul ever does want the fight, lad, I’m open to hearing what numbers he’s coming at us with."

Since his last victory, Pimblett has ballooned in weight having stepped on the scales at around 200lbs after going on a junk-food binge after his success. Paul would hold a significant size advantage over Pimblett at his natural weight with the UFC star fighting in the 155lbs division, while Paul weighs around 190lbs.
