Paddy Pimblett set to miss UFC 286 due to injury

Paddy Pimblett is unlikely to feature on the UFC’s return to the UK in March.

The Liverpool fighter is set to undergo surgery on the ankle injury he sustained during his previous UFC bout, against Jarred Gordon.

Pimblett reported the severity of the injury during a video on his Paddy the Baddy YouTube channel, which showed him receiving a check-up on his ankle.

“It must have been the first leg kick I threw or something. Bare shin to bare shin right away in the first round,” said the big Liverpool FC fan.

The medical professional in the video claimed that Pimblett had lost a small amount of cartilage, as well as having some fluid inside, causing swelling and resulting in a grade-two injury.

It was then stated during that The Baddy will be having surgery in March, virtually confirming the Next Generation MMA fighter will not be part of UFC 286 at The O2 Arena in London.

Pimblett had been rumoured to be on the March card, but he admitted in an interview with the ECHO before his win over Gordon that he was unsure.

The 28-year-old said: "People are saying fight in London in March, I don’t have a clue. Because you don’t know what happens in each fight, I could break my hand or my foot or my nose."

The Baddy has always made it clear he is taking his time to the top, therefore it is likely he will not rush himself back, and rather nurse his injury back to full health.

It is unclear when he will return to action, although he will be at the top of many fighters' hitlist when he gives the matchmakers the thumbs up.
