Paddy Pimblett's opponent insists he was "robbed" after controversial loss

Jared Gordon thinks he was "robbed" of a win after losing an unanimous decision to Paddy Pimblett in their fight at UFC 282.

'The Baddy' picked up his fourth successive UFC win at the event in Las Vegas but it wasn't met without controversy as many fans felt that Gordon should have been awarded the points win. Gordon landed more punches than Pimblett across three rounds, also taking the Scouse fighter down three times and notching up over six minutes of control time.

Gordon was visibly frustrated when the official decision was announced and he went on to tweet after the fight: "I was robbed everyone knows it, I can cry about it but I been back from worst and gods plan is the best plan so I know there’s something big to come from it."

Pimblett was questioned about Gordon's tweet at the post-fight press conference and laughed when it was read back to him by a reporter. "Control time means nothing, damage does," he said. "Look at my face and then look at Jared's, I don't care what anyone says. When you look back at the history books, I've got a green marker next to my name so everyone else can suck my a***hole."

"I spoke to him in the back, he said to me 'I thought I won'. I told him he was a tough son of a b**** because he took some big shots and kept walking forward. Everyone always thinks they've won after a loss, I've lost two five round fights and I thought I won both. It's that simple, opinions are like a***holes, everyone's got one but the fact is that I won by unanimous decision."

There was little action in the third round of the fight as Gordon opted to press Pimblett against the fence for five minutes, seemingly thinking he'd already done enough to earn the win. UFC boss Dana White was critical of Gordon's tactics, stating: "I thought that Jared Gordon’s gameplan going into the third round was horrible.

"You think you won the first two rounds with the judges? How do you know that? Why go in there and throw away the third round instead of fighting your a** off, trying to get the win. I have to go after the referee too. A big fight, co-main event, the crowd is going crazy and you’re going to let them stand against the fence for the entire fight?"
