Logan Paul among celebrities to message Paddy Pimblett after debut UFC win

UFC star Paddy Pimblett received messages from celebrities such as Lewis Capaldi and Logan Paul after winning his promotional debut last year.

Pimblett made his long-awaited UFC debut last September when he survived an early scare to knockout Luigi Vendramini and earn a $50,000 bonus.

The Liverpudlian went viral for his post-fight interview in which he called out Instagram for disabling his account, labelling the social media platform as "lizards".

'The Baddy' - who fights Rodrigo Vargas at UFC London on March 19 - has also inked a seven-figure deal with American media company Barstool Sports as his fame continues to rise.

And Pimblett revealed the messages he received following hIs debut win last year.

"The other day I actually went in my message requests and changed my requests to 'top requests' and I had some mad people in there," he said.

"Big Shaq (Michael Dapaah), I'd left Big Shaq on unread for four months I felt terrible. There was Lewis Capaldi, all basketball players, all YouTubers, I even had a message off Logan Paul.

"So, when I went through my requests it was a bit like 'wow, what's going on here'. People have said to me what it's like being a celebrity, I'm no celebrity lad I'm just Paddy."

He explained YouTube star Paul offered him a "business opportunity" but joked that if the money wasn't right the American can "leg it".

Pimblett was linked to fights with UFC veteran Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone and Jared Gordon before his bout with Vargas was announced.

And the 27-year-old thinks some fans are quick to forget he is only one fight deep into his UFC career.

"I can understand why people said 'oh he should have fought him or him' but I shouldn't have, Cowboy's had like 30 UFC fights and Jared's had nine," he continued.

"I know for a fact every time I get a fight announced people will be moaning at about, but what do you want me to do fight someone in the top 15 in my second fight?

"I'm fighting another person who's had a few fights in the UFC. I should be fighting people like that at this stage in my career.

"But obviously people want to see me get fast-tracked which says a lot about me.
