Paddy Pimblett hits out at Prime Minister hopeful Rishi Sunak over cost-of-living crisis

UFC star Paddy Pimblett has slammed Conservative MP Rishi Sunak amid the cost-of-living crisis in the UK.

Sunak, who served as chancellor for two years, is now one of two candidates remaining in the race to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and prime minister. His resignation from the cabinet earlier this month played an integral role in Boris Johnson ’s decision to stand down as Tory leader.

Pimblett, a proud Liverpudlian, is by no means a fan of the Conservative Party often singing the chant ‘f*** the Tories’ alongside fellow UFC star Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann. With UK inflation rates currently at 9.4 per cent, Pimblett has labelled the increase in living costs as "disgusting" whilst slamming Sunak’s political campaign. “It’s absolutely disgusting and then you’ve got this [Rishi] Sunak saying that he wants to sort the country out," Pimblett said.

"You were the one in charge of the budget you divvy. Let’s do a general election and see them get voted out. More and more people are eating from food banks now and it’s becoming heat or eat for a lot of families. It’s absolutely despicable that’s happening. Sunak is a multi-millionaire, his bird’s a billionaire and he’s talking about sorting the economy out? Eat s*** lad.” Sunak’s wife, Akshata Murty, made headlines earlier this year after an inquiry was launched into the leak of her tax affairs.

Pimblett, 27, makes his third UFC appearance on Saturday night when he challenges Jordan Leavitt at The O2 arena. ‘The Baddy’ has become one of the promotion’s biggest stars after just two fights, capturing the attention of fans across the world due to his fighting style and charismatic personality.

‘The Baddy’, who grew up on a council estate in Liverpool, has previously outlined his goal to end children using food banks in his home city if he can earn ‘ Conor McGregor money’ from his UFC career. "I'm from Liverpool, we're not Tories. We don't get ahead of ourselves," Pimblett said after his last fight.

"My city keeps me grounded. I hope I do end up earning as much money as Conor McGregor and then no child from my city will ever eat from a food bank ever again. I'm gonna give back to my city. Something I've been planning on doing the past few months is to start my own charity." Pimblett may be one step closer to his charity goal after recently moving on from his controversial £9,500 UFC deal.
