Paddy McGuinness shares moving message for ex Christine after documentary airs

Paddy McGuinness has said he's "very proud" of his ex-wife Christine McGuiness after her recent documentary aired on BBC one. The programme, called Unmasking My Autism, saw Christine open up about her own diagnosis, which came in 2021 when she was 33.

The documentary explored the untold stories of several women with autism and described how they'd often been misdiagnosed, felt misunderstood by society and medical professionals, and had faced a wide range of challenges that affected their lives pre-diagnosis - and continue to affect them now.

Christine was praised by viewers for shedding light on the challenges facing women with autism and drawing attention to the way many young girls "mask" having the disorder. You can read more on this here.

During the documentary, the 34-year-old also spoke honestly about her split with Top Gear presenter Paddy, 49, in July last year. The pair, who married in 2011, share three children together, all of whom are autistic.

Christine and Paddy previously made the BBC documentary Our Family And Autism about their children’s autism. And speaking following the broadcast of her brave autism documentary, Paddy poured praise on his ex.

Posting a picture of Christine from her documentary, Paddy wrote: "Very proud of Christine for making this new documentary highlighting Autism, particularly in women."

He added of the couple's children, nine-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and six-year-old Felicity: "It'll be a massive help to our daughters in years to come along with our little lad. #unmaskingmyautism #awareness #acceptence."

Christine also shared a message and revealed she was watching the documentary alone but felt supported. Taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote: "Watching my documentary alone but with all of you on here... thank you for the love and support already."
