Paddy McGuinness proud of wife Christine for ditching 'fake' Real Housewives job

Paddy McGuinness is proud that wife Christine has landed a brand-new job after leaving Real Housewives of Cheshire behind her.

The Top Gear presenter, 48, is reportedly over the moon about his wife's forthcoming venture on ITV challenge show The Games and is delighted that she's left her Real Housewives stint in the past.

Christine, 33, recently landed the exciting new gig with ITV, and her hubby is relieved that she will no longer be filming scenes where she's 'gossiping' and 'going for lunches' with the other housewives.

"He thinks this is a step in the right direction," an insider told.

"He never really liked her being on the Housewives. He feels like she’s doing something that doesn’t involve her going for lunches and gossiping with other women," they added to OK! Magazine.

Blonde beauty Christine, who shares twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and five year old Felicity with Paddy, has upped her game when it comes to her career path over the past twelve months.

The proud mum-of-three, who recently discovered that she is autistic, has penned a successful autobiography, made an important BBC documentary about autism and starred on ITV's The Real Full Monty to raise awareness for breast cancer - all in recent months.

After building up her impressive showbiz CV, Christine has now snapped up the new ITV role and Paddy couldn't be any more proud of his amazing wife.

"He feels like her career is really on the up. With the documentary, the book and he was really proud of The Real Full Monty. The Games is the next big thing for Christine and he can’t wait to be there to support her," the source added.

Christine previously opened up about how Paddy disapproved of her being in the Real Housewives cast.

In her autobiography, A Beautiful Nightmare, Christine got candid about her husband's feelings on her part in the reality TV show.

"Patrick didn't want me to have a public profile at all. He especially didn't want me to join The Real Housewives," Christine penned.

"He thought it was all about the glitz and glamour, and showing off your wealth, which is so far removed from my normal life. And I agree it wasn't quite the right fit.

"I don't live a glamorous life and I'm not shopping for Chanel bags and going to swanky parties every day, which is the reputation of Housewives."
