Paddy McGuinness loses half of his BBC presenter roles as two shows 'cancelled'

The BBC is reportedly set to axe two shows presented by Paddy McGuinness. It means the 48-year-old, who switched over to the BBC from ITV four years ago, will lose half of his current TV show presenting roles.

A TV insider has claimed Catchpoint, which started in 2019, and I Can See Your Voice, which only premiered in 2021, won't be returning for new episodes. It comes as clouds hang over Paddy's other two shows, Top Gear and A Question of Sport, which he took over hosting two y reported The Express.

An insider told The Sun: "This will come as a real blow to Paddy, who’s made a firm commitment to the Beeb since he quit ITV four years ago. Both I Can See Your Voice and Catchpoint saw him retain his place as a star of Saturday night TV, something he forged fronting dating favourite Take Me Out on ITV.

"But these axings mean that’s effectively gone, so he’s likely to be looking for new projects to fill the void. He remains hugely popular with viewers, who see him as a relatable and funny bloke they want to welcome into their living rooms."

They added: "He is likely to bounce back in some way." It comes after the latest series of Top Gear was paused following co-presenter Andrew 'Freddie Flintoff being seriously injured in a crash during filming.

Paddy has also faced backlash over the new format of the long-running A Question Of Sport since he took over as host from Sue Barker in 2021. Sam Quek and Ugo Monye became the new team captains the same year.

Sam previously defended Paddy after critics called for former star tennis player Sue to return as host. She said: "I think it’s so important to remember it’s a sports quiz, it’s sport.

"One of the best things about sport is that it’s inclusive to anyone, anyone’s background or age, especially in this show. To watch the show, you don’t have to be a sports expert, you don’t have to play sports, so why is everyone making a fuss about the presenter not being an elite athlete, or having that experience?"

The second series of mystery music game show I Can See Your Voice aired between October and December last year on BBC One. It featured Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Jimmy Carr as judges.
