Peter Kay fans were whipped up into a frenzy when he announced that he was heading back on the road with his first stand-up tour in 12 years. But they quickly realised they would be facing a battle for tickets when the pre-sale opportunity to get a place at one of the gigs ended in a scramble and organisers for the highly-anticipated upcoming UK tour issuing an apology to customers.
Peter revealed that he would be returning to the stage in an ad played during the launch episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. The Bolton-born star randomly popped up on-screen with a very special advert in which Peter told a neighbour that he was going back on tour while clinging onto a roll of carpet for his mum's house.
Peter's huge new UK comedy tour, aptly titled the Better Late Than Never Tour, will open in just a matter of weeks, starting on home turf with two nights at Manchester's AO Arena next month and what was initially a string of dates through to summer 2023 has now extended all the way into early 2025 after fans tried in their droves to get tickets.

During the day of the presale last Thursday, it appeared Paddy McGuinness would be rejoining the battle to get to see his former Phoenix Nights co-star back on stage. The Top Gear host tweeted on Thursday: "Afternoon. Man’s not got Peter Kay tickets. Have a lovely day."
But days after Peter sold out arena after arena, resulting in dozens of new dates being added and fans waiting in eight-hour virtual queues, Paddy has given a cheeky ticket update.
However, it wasn't really about the tickets as the TV star paid a sweet tribute to his childhood friend and former co-star. Paddy, 49, shared his pride for Peter, also 49, opening up in rare social media post about their friendship. He shared a string of images of the pair to his Instagram page, featuring throwback snaps from Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.
"I don’t often speak about Pete and his achievements on my socials," Paddy started his post "He’s been a mate since childhood and that’s how I always see him. Regardless of all the great things he’s achieved on television there’s literally no one who comes close to what he does live.
"The amount of tickets he sells is unheard of in the comedy world and beyond! He’s a one off folks, enjoy him, I don’t think you’ll see the likes of him again? Certainly not in our lifetime. I’m very proud you son." Paddy jokingly ended his post by adding: "PS I haven’t got tickets. PPS I don’t need any. #peterkay."
But the reminder of their work together only ended with one thing - a demand to bring Max and Paddy back once more. @juggint said: "Max an Paddy. We need another series." @tarron16 wrote: "Get another series of Max & Paddy done… loved that series." @jempatton echoed: "Bring back Max & Paddy!"
@toddy.bt replied: "We need a max and paddy ...paddy and max bring back." @skincarewithkatiehayes posted: "Bring max n paddy back get the country loffing again!" @sambo_93x added: "Bring back max and paddy and Phoenix nights!!! That's the next one."
