Paddy McGuinness has angered some of his fans who fear he isn’t being supportive enough to his wife Christine while she has been competing in ITV sports show The Games.
The 48-year-old Take Me Out star has been married to 34-year-old Christine since 2011 and together they share three children.
Christine has been testing her physical abilities on ITV show The Games which has seen her participate in a number of Olympic sports including hurdles and synchronised diving.
The series has now reached its climax – with singer and presenter Chelcee Grimes winning gold for the women, and Love Island star Wes Nelson scooping the gold for the boys.
While viewers were thrilled by the show of athleticism and physical prowess by the 12 celebrities that took part, many feel there was a conspicuous silence from Paddy while his wife competed.
Fans noticed that Paddy failed to highlight Christine’s involvement on the show via his own social media channels, and he was also not present during and of the filming – either live or prerecorded.
A source told The Sun: "It was noted Paddy stayed silent about how well she was doing. Some thought it a bit odd.
"Many of the other contestants had family visiting the London grounds and cheering them on from the side."
In contrast, other close family members came out to support the other contestants.
Spice Girls icon Mel B was on the track to support her daughter, Phoenix Gulzar, who was a silver medal winning contestant on the show.
Lucy Mecklenburgh also attended in support of her fiancé Ryan Thomas – despite being heavily pregnant with their second child.
Stacey Dooley appeared in the supporter stalls to cheer on her lover, former Strictly star Kevin Clifton.
And Love Island stars Wes Nelson and Olivia Attwood were cheered on by their respective partners Lucciana Beynon and Bradley Dack.
Fans of Christine have challenged Paddy over his apparent lack of support.
One grilled him via social media, writing: "How come you aren't posting about how amazing @christinemcguinness is doing?"
While the show aired, Christine – who last year shared news that she had been diagnosed with ADHD and autism – said she was taking part in the show on behalf of her children.
The star and Paddy have three kids together – eight-year-old twins Felicity and Leo, and daughter Penelope, six – who have all been diagnosed with autism.
She said while appearing on This Morning earlier this month: “I want my children to know when they grow up, nothing should hold them back because they’re autistic.
“We can still try, we can still do our best. And I’m here! I can’t believe it!”
