Paddy and Christine McGuinness address family holiday woes

Paddy and Christine McGuinness gave fans an insight into their holiday problems.

Not long off their own solo holidays, Paddy and Christine have finally arranged a full family vacation. The pair have recently battled rumours their relationship was on the rocks, with the separate trips adding fuel to the fire, but it appears logistics were to blame.

Paddy uploaded a photo to Instagram documenting their struggles with their youngest daughter's passport. Felicity's documents expired just before they were supposed to travel to Spain, throwing their plans into disarray.

Sharing a photo of Christine and himself beaming next to one another, the caption said: "Yes! We finally got away for our family holiday!

"After discovering, three days before we were due to fly, our youngest daughter's passport had expired, our holiday to Spain had to be cancelled. We’d been telling the kids all about it, especially the airport part, so to suddenly change plans wasn’t easy! Mums and Dads with Autistic children will know exactly what I mean

"Thankfully we got lucky and found the last available lodge at Centre Parcs, I booked it straight away. It was a big tree house and the kids absolutely loved it!!! We had a full week of activities booked for them and discovered a few of our children's hidden talents, namely scaling the indoor climbing walls. I’m so proud of how well they did but mainly by how much fun they had.

"We met another family there who also had a child with autism. They’d been going there for years. We can highly recommend Nottingham Centre Parcs, this isn’t an advert, we paid. If you’re a family who struggles with airports and all the hassles of travelling abroad this place could be the answer, it even had it’s own beach!

"The staff were great with the kids and you can please yourself what you want to do. You can chill out and have a quiet one or dive into all the activities! We did a bit of both. We’ll definitely go back there. We’re home now to our own beds, which no holiday can ever beat!

All three of their children have autism including Christine who was diagnosed at 33. Discussing the topic in her book, she said: "I have been confirmed as autistic. It’s strange, but I’ve noticed there are little hints throughout my life that I’m autistic and more like my children than I ever could have imagined.

"My issues with food, my social struggles, how hard I find it to make friends and stay focused, and my indecisiveness. The way I float through life reminds me of how my eldest daughter Penelope is.

"It all makes sense now. And as much as I’m not totally surprised, it’s still been emotional for me to accept, but it’s a relief as well."
