Two paddleboarders were rescued yesterday after getting stranded on a sandbank. The pair were saved by the Broughty Ferry inshore lifeboat after an alert was raised at 11.35am.
They were stuck on a sandbank close to Dundee Airpoer.
A spokesman for the RNLI team said: “Broughty Ferry In Shore Lifeboat (D834 - Oor Lifesaver) was launched at the request of Aberdeen Coastguard at 12:01 to reports of 2 people on Stand Up Paddle Boards stranded on a sand bank to the West of Dundee Airport.
“Once on scene the ILB crew located the casualties to the west of Invergowrie Bay area.
“They were then able to help the stranded boarders safely across the sandbanks with their boards to the safety of the ILB where they were transferred back to Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station.”
The paddle boarders were later checked over and both were uninjured.
