Paco Rabanne nods to debut fashion collection with new fragrance, Fame

The name ‘Paco Rabanne’ will conjure different associations for different people: whether it be the infamous catwalks of the eighties and nineties; the sound of metal gowns clinking together as models swish past; or the legendary fragrance ads, featuring all kinds of beautiful beings swooning over one another in gym locker rooms - the house iconography is certainly memorable.

In September, the brand added another fragrance to its roster of unmistakable scents. Joining the immensely popular One Million and Lady Million, Fame is the latest feminine fragrance by Paco Rabanne. Available to purchase now, this fragrance merges an indulgent blend of opulent jasmine, juicy mango and creamy, cosseting incense.

Though warm and embracing once spritzed, it’s bottled within a hard exterior - an armour-clad robot that has recently been spotted popping up in and around London. Said robot is dressed appropriately in the brand’s heritage codes, a metal frock that dates back to when the couturier first established his namesake brand, referencing his debut collection in 1966: “Manifesto: 12 unwearable dresses in contemporary materials.”

Announced earlier this year, the face of the brand is 24 year old American actress, Elle Fanning, known best for her roles in Maleficent (2014) and The Beguiled (2017). In the campaign, filmed in Paris and shot by Solal Micenmacher, Fanning channels the many muses of Paco Rabanne himself, as well as the women behind the fragrance’s inspiration, Audrey Hepburn, Jane Fonda and Brigitte Bardot.
