Packers WR Christian Watson avoids concussion but team still monitoring

Green Bay Packers receiver Christian Watson passed initial concussion testing after making a 37-yard catch against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but the team is still monitoring his condition for concussion-related symptoms.

“No, he was not (diagnosed with a concussion). We’re still following it closely, just to make sure,” coach Matt LaFleur said.

Watson went up and over a defender to make a 37-yard catch in the fourth quarter. He was evaluated for a concussion and the team reported back/chest injuries, but LaFleur said he didn’t have any concern over either the back or chest injury moving forward.

It appeared Watson fell on the ball as he was coming down with the catch. He was in pain after getting up off the ground, came out of the game immediately and didn’t return.

Watson made just the one catch, but Jordan Love also missed him for what would have been a 38-yard touchdown in the first half.

Watson suffered a concussion as a rookie in Buffalo and missed a game.

The Packers got to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers this Sunday. The team won’t put out the first injury report of the week until Wednesday.
