For the second time in three years, the Green Bay Packers will open the regular season on the road at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Matt LaFleur’s team will face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 of the 2022 season. The game is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 11.
The Packers beat the Vikings 43-34 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 1 of the 2020 season. Last season, Green Bay lost in Minnesota on a field goal as time expired. During each of the last two seasons, the Packers and Vikings split the season series.
The Vikings will be facing the Packers for the first time under new coach Kevin O’Connell, who replaced Mike Zimmer.
The Week 1 battle will be the 124th meeting between the Packers and Vikings.
The game will also be a reunion for a few former Packers. Among those facing the Packers for the first time as members of the Vikings are coaches Mike Pettine and Mike Smith and outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith and cornerback Chandon Sullivan.
Three other games are official on the 2022 schedule: The Packers will play the Chicago Bears in Week 2 for the home opener, the New York Giants in London in Week 5, and the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field in Week 10. The rest of the schedule will be announced later Thursday night.
