Packers to host Lions on ‘Sunday Night Football’ in Week 18

With the final playoff spot in the NFC on the line, the NFL has announced the Green Bay Packers will host the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 18.

Kickoff from Lambeau Field is scheduled for Jan. 8 at 7:20 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on NBC.

If the Packers beat the Lions, they will clinch a playoff spot for the fourth straight season. Detroit also has a shot at the postseason if they win and the Seattle Seahawks lose to the Los Angeles Rams earlier Sunday. If the Seahawks win, the Lions will go into the game with no chance to make the postseason.

The Packers earned the right to control their own destiny by winning four straight games and getting some help from the Cleveland Browns, who beat the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

The Packers were defeated by the Lions 15-9 in Week 9. Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions in that matchup that dropped Green Bay to a 3-6 record.

The Lions, on the other hand, won their second game of the season after a 1-6 start and have since won six of their last eight games to have a shot at the postseason.
