The Green Bay Packers will get their first matchup against Davante Adams in primetime in Week 5 of the 2023 season.
According to the schedule released by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Packers will go to Las Vegas to play Adams and the Raiders on “Monday Night Football” on Oct. 9.
The primetime game should feature a heavyweight showdown between Adams, a back-to-back-to-back first-team All-Pro, and Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander, a two-time All-Pro.
The Packers traded Adams to the Raiders on March 17, 2022. The deal netted the Packers a first-round pick and second-round pick, which general manager Brian Gutekunst used to select linebacker Quay Walker and trade up to draft receiver Christian Watson.
In his first season with the Raiders, Adams caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards and an NFL-high 14 touchdowns. He’s been a first-team All-Pro selection at wide receiver in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The Packers-Raiders showdown could also be a kicking battle between brothers: Daniel Carlson for the Raiders and rookie Anders Carlson for the Packers. Or a second-round tight end battle: Michael Mayer for the Raiders and Luke Musgrave for the Packers.
The Packers did not face the Raiders last season. Matt LaFleur’s team will play the entire AFC West during the 2023 season.
