Packers teammates discuss Jordan Love’s performance in comeback win over Saints

The Green Bay Packers don’t mount an incredible fourth-quarter comeback against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday without an impressive performance from quarterback Jordan Love.

Love and the offense didn’t score a single point through the first three quarters, but something clicked when their backs were against the wall over the final 15 minutes. Love orchestrated three consecutive scoring drives to bring his team back from a 17-point deficit.

The locker room had already bought into Love as their unquestioned leader before Week 3’s heroics. However, that commitment grew even stronger after the plays he made with his arms and legs against a stingy Saints defense.

Here’s what Packers players said about Love following Sunday’s win.

WR Dontayvion Wicks

“It just shows you how great of a leader and a player he is to be poised to bring us back from 17-0. I think of him highly, as I think we all do. We weren’t surprised. We see him do it every day, so we know what he can do. I was telling him in the game, ‘Be him.’”

OLB Rashan Gary

“That’s just who J-Love is. I’ve been seeing him since Year 1. His confidence has been building and building. Y’all know he was behind Aaron, a Hall of Famer, so seeing some of his mannerisms and seeing when the game is like that, how he’s keeping everybody up, how he’s keeping everybody locked in and focusing, and making sure we’re on our keys, he’s a true leader. I’m just happy that he was able to get us this win and just his progression.”

WR Jayden Reed

“He has great poise. He’s a guy that doesn’t flinch. He comes in the huddle and is like, ‘Alright, let’s go.’ He keeps the positivity going, never gets too high or never gets too low, and that’s what I think helps when we’re in the huddle. It keeps us cool and keeps our composure. It helps us keep executing the way we do.”

DT Kenny Clark

“That was good, man. It’s going to give everybody just a lot of confidence and that was a great defense out there. So, just credit to him, credit to how he prepared, how resilient he is.

“We already had confidence in him and what he can do. This just preaches to what we’ve been saying all along.”

WR Romeo Doubs

“If you look at the cameras, just watching him in the huddle, pre-snap or whatnot, his poise is amazing. That’s one trait that I continue to emphasize on because any other quarterback in that situation would lose his mind.”

OLB Preston Smith

“We’ve been believing in Buddy Love, as I call him. “He’s been playing at a high level. We know what he can do and we know as long as we have his back and stay consistent, he can keep us in any game and can win any game with him as our quarterback. We know he has a lot of ability. He can make the throws. You can see he can run. Sometimes he lowers his shoulder, sometimes he makes a man miss…Jordan Love has a lot of ability to win games in this league. A lot of games.”
