The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Dede Westbrook and edge rusher Tim Ward to the team’s 16-player practice squad on Tuesday.
Westbrook, a fourth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, has played in 55 career games, including 15 last season with the Minnesota Vikings. He has 170 career catches for 1,788 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed 14 times for 125 yards. He’s also returned 69 career punts, a noteworthy number considering the Packers releaased Amari Rodgers on Tuesday and are now in the market for a new punt returner. It’s worth nothing: Westbrook does have eight career fumbles, including two last season.
Ward, an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion, played in one game for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 and 11 games for the New York Jets last season. He has 17 career tackles, one sack, two pass breakups and two quarterback hits. He played 191 snaps on defense and 61 more on special teams with the Jets in 2021.
