Packers rule out CB Eric Stokes with knee/ankle injuries vs. Lions

The Green Bay Packers ruled out starting cornerback Eric Stokes due to knee and ankle injuries on Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.

Stokes, the second-year corner, was injured in the first quarter. He was carted back to the locker room from the sideline.

The Packers will go with Jaire Alexander and Rasul Douglas as the perimeter cornerbacks with Keisean Nixon available for slot duty the rest of the way against the Lions.

The team ruling out Stokes so quickly opens the door to a possible significant injury.

Stokes, the team’s first-round pick in 2021, was terrific as a rookie but has gone through ups and downs during his second NFL season.

The Packers are already without receiver Romeo Doubs, who left due to an ankle injury in the first quarter. Jon Runyan Jr., the starting right guard, returned from a knee injury.
