The Green Bay Packers returned first-round pick Jordan Morgan and cornerback Carrington Valentine to the practice field on Wednesday, according to Mike Spofford of the team’s official site.
The first injury report of the week will be released later Wednesday. Expect both Morgan and Valentine to be listed as limited as they work back from injuries.
Morgan re-injured his shoulder in Week 2 and missed the last two games. In his absence, Sean Rhyan has been a full-time player at right guard.
Valentine injured his ankle and missed Week 3. He appeared on track to return in Week 4 but missed Friday’s practice and was inactive Sunday.
Morgan may need time before he’s physically ready to return to a rotation with Rhyan at right guard. He has now injured the same shoulder twice in a timespan of roughly a month and a half, and Rhyan looks increasingly comfortable as a full-time player.
Valentine was also in a rotation before his injury. He out-snapped Eric Stokes at cornerback in Week 2, but it’s unclear how his absence will affect playing time moving forward. The Packers need better play at cornerback, and returning Valentine — even in a rotation with Stokes — could help.
The Packers face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The Packers were without five players at Wednesday’s practice: receiver Christian Watson, defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt, cornerback Jaire Alexander, offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins and tight end Luke Musgrave. Watson and Wyatt both left Sunday’s loss to the Vikings with ankle injuries.
