Packers restructure contract of S Adrian Amos to clear cap space

For the second consecutive season, the Green Bay Packers have restructured the contract of safety Adrian Amos.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Packers restructured Amos’ deal along with Randall Cobb to clear over $10 million in cap space and get under the salary cap by Wednesday’s deadline.

Amos’ cap number dropped to roughly $7.3 million in 2022, creating a savings of roughly $4.7 million on the cap this year.

The Packers converted base salary into a signing bonus and added void years to the deal to create the savings.

Amos has played in all 49 games since signing with the Packers in 2019. His deal will void after the 2022 season, creating a dead cap hit of $7.9 million.

The Packers needed the savings on the cap to get under by Wednesday and create the room required to re-sign De’Vondre Campbell and sign punter Pat O’Donnell.
