Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) not expected to play on MNF vs. Giants

The Green Bay Packers will likely have to get through another game without running back Aaron Jones. Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Jones — who injured his knee on Nov. 19 against the Los Angeles Chargers — is not expected to play on “Monday Night Football” against the New York Giants.

Pelissero reports Jones is “working hard to get back” but is “not ready” to play this week. He will miss a third consecutive game.

The Packers listed Jones as questionable to play. He practiced in a limited capacity all three days this week but is now expected to be inactive on Monday night.

Without Jones available, the Packers will roll with A.J. Dillon as the starter and Patrick Taylor as his top backup.

Jones believed he was “close” to returning but still had hurdles to clear. Playing through pain in the knee isn’t an issue but stability is, and he must prove he can put his foot in the ground, accelerate to top speed and handle contact from all sides.

Jones injured his MCL in a scary-looking play against the Chargers at Lambeau Field last month.

The Packers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field next Sunday, a logical point of return for Jones.

In seven games this season, Jones has rushed 66 times for 245 yards and caught 19 passes for 169 yards. He has 414 total yards and three touchdowns.
