At the NFL Pro Bowl games, Green Bay Packers’ defensive end Rashan Gary was asked about new Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile and offered some high praise.
“Yeah, me and Camp go way back,” said Gary. “He used to recruit me back in his Rutgers days. Being able to play with him for a little bit down there. Being able to rekindle that relationship was great. He brings a lot of energy. The number one thing is that he holds people accountable. He wants what is best for you.”

Campanile was the linebackers coach and run game coordinator for the Packers during the 2024 season–his only year with the team. Prior to that, he was the Miami Dolphins’ linebackers coach from 2020-2023.
That year in Green Bay was quite impactful, however. The Packers’ run defense ranked third in yards per carry allowed, while rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was twice named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week and the NFC’s Rookie of the Month in December.
“If you go to him and tell him your goals and aspirations, he is going to make sure every day that you wake up and your face is in that book and put your feet in that turf, and that you do what you have got to do to get there,” added Gary.
Campanile will be a first time defensive coordinator with the Jaguars but comes to Jacksonville with a diverse coaching background having operated in systems led by Vic Fangio, Brian Flores, and Jeff Hafley.
“He’s a guy that’s going to get you ready to go, man,” said Gary. “He’s a guy that’s going to really make you focus on the details, and like I said, there’s never going to be a dull day with him.”
