Packers QB Jordan Love (groin) expected to play vs. Lions

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to play through a groin injury on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Packers listed Love, who injured his groin last Sunday in Jacksonville, as questionable to play on the final injury report. He practiced in a limited capacity on both Thursday and Friday this week.

Coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers would give Love “up to game time to see how he’s feeling,” suggesting a game-time decision. Pelissero’s report indicates Love and the Packers are already comfortable with him being on the field Sunday.

Barring some kind of setback pre-game on Sunday, Love will start against the Lions, who have won five straight games and are leading the NFC North at 6-1. The winner Sunday will take over first place in the division entering Week 10.

Love was injured while extending a play early in the first quarter last week against the Jaguars. He played through the injury for roughly two quarters but exited on the first drive of the third quarter.

Love has thrown 15 touchdown passes and an NFL-high nine interceptions over six starts this season. Backup quarterback Malik Willis led the Packers to back-to-back wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans while Love was out with a sprained MCL, and he engineered a game-winning drive to beat the Jaguars last Sunday. Willis would be next up if Love suffers a setback or has to exit the game Sunday.
