Packers, QB Jordan Love agree to 4-year, $220M contract extension

The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love agreed to a record-breaking four-year, $220 million contract extension on Friday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The deal — averaging $55 million per year — makes Love the highest paid quarterback in NFL history.

Per Rapoport, the deal includes a record-breaking $75 million signing bonus. Overall, the deal includes $155 million in guaranteed money.

Love’s new deal comes just hours after Tua Tagovailoa signed a new four-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.

Love had missed the first four days of training camp practice while negotiating the new contract. He figures to be back on the field when the Packers practice at Ray Nitschke Field on Saturday morning.

Love, a 2020 first-round pick, took over for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers at quarterback in 2023. He threw 32 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions while leading the Packers to a 9-8 record and a playoff berth. Over the second half of the season, Love led or was among the NFL leaders in several important passing statistics.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst was confident he was closing to finishing a deal with Love to open training camp. It took a handful of days, but Love and the Packers have their long-term and lucrative agreement.

Love will be under contract with the Packers through the 2028 season.
