Packers plummet to 24th in USA Today power rankings entering bye week

The Green Bay Packers hit a new season low in USA Today’s NFL power rankings, falling five spots to No. 24 after losing 17-13 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night.

The Packers, now 2-3, have lost two straight games entering the Week 6 bye and don’t play again until Oct. 22.

Here’s the Packers’ blurb from Nate Davis:

No worse way to go into a bye week than off a terrible loss. But Green Bay’s next three opponents (Broncos, Vikings, Rams) have a combined four wins, so hopefully a good time for the Pack to get healthy figuratively and literally.

After reaching as high as No. 12 in the rankings, the Packers have fallen at least three spots during each of the last three weeks, providing an accurate reflection of how Matt LaFleur’s team has played during the last three games. This is a team searching for an identity, especially within a young, inexperienced and mistake-prone offense missing Aaron Jones and David Bakhtiari.

The Packers get a week off before traveling to Denver to play the Broncos, who are currently No. 28 in the USA Today power rankings.

While the Detroit Lions moved up to No. 3 and look up like huge favorites to win the division, the rest of the NFC North occupies the bottom third of the rankings. The Packers are No. 24, the Minnesota Vikings are No. 25 and the Chicago Bears are No. 26. The three teams have a combined four wins.
