Packers OLB Rashan Gary in concussion protocol, DNP on Wednesday

The Green Bay Packers were without star outside linebacker Rashan Gary during Wednesday practice as he begins working his way through the league’s concussion protocol.

Gary, who leads the team with 6.0 sacks, exited Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders after suffering the head injury. He must now pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol before he’s eligible to play again.

The Packers go on the road to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Gary would have to get on the practice field in some kind of capacity this week if he’s to play against the Bills. The team will practice Thursday and Friday before flying out to Buffalo on Saturday for Sunday’s primetime showdown.

Rookie Kingsley Enagbare would get a considerable bump in play time if Gary is unavailable in Buffalo.

Matt LaFleur’s team was also without quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb), receiver Allen Lazard (shoulder), offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (knee) and cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle) during Wednesday’s practice. Left tackle David Bakhtiari and receivers Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson were all limited.

The Bills were without offensive tackle Spencer Brown and running back Taiwan Jones during Wednesday’s practice.
