Packers OL Jordan Morgan to miss rest of 2024 season with shoulder injury

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan will miss the rest of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury that has lingered since August and kept him out of the last five games.

“Yeah, he’s done for the year,” LaFleur told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Morgan, the 25th overall pick in the 2024 draft, was recently spotted wearing a sling at practice. He is currently on injured reserve.

LaFleur didn’t specifically confirm but it’s possible Morgan needed surgery to correct an issue that has dated back to August.

Morgan first injured his shoulder during training camp, preventing him from winning the starting job at right guard. He then aggravated the injury in Week 2 and missed the next three games. After starting his first career game and playing all 65 snaps against the Detroit Lions in Week 9, Morgan injured his shoulder a third time during a Nov. 14 practice and hasn’t played since.

Morgan appeared in six games with one start as a rookie. He was on the field for 186 snaps — mostly as a rotational player with Sean Rhyan at right guard.

The Packers have four of their five preferred starters along the offensive line under contract next season, with the lone exception being center Josh Myers. Offensive tackles Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom are both having strong seasons, making it possible that Morgan — who played mostly left tackle in college — will need to compete for a starting job on the interior again in 2025.

Without Morgan the rest of the way, Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort, Travis Glover and Jacob Monk will be the top backups along the offensive line to finish 2024. Monk, a fifth-round pick, has been a healthy scratch for the last four games.
