Packers move on from DL coach Jason Rebrovich after disappointing season

After a disappointing season from the defensive front, Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are moving on from defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

The hunt for a new defensive line coach is already on, and the Packers are in the process of interviewing candidates.

Rebrovich joined the Packers staff as an outside linebackers coach under former defensive coordinator Joe Barry in 2022. He was moved to pass rush specialist in 2023 and then to defensive line coach — handling both defensive ends and defensive tackles — under first-year coordinator Jeff Hafley.

The Packers finished with 45 sacks but ranked below average in pressure rate in 2024. The four-man pass-rush, which was expected to be a strength of the defense, never became a consistent factor, forcing Hafley to use more blitzes and simulated pressures to disrupt the quarterback.

To take the next step, the Packers must get better pressuring the quarterback with only four rushers in 2025.

Rebrovich had been a defensive line coach at previous stops with the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Both LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst expressed belief in the players along the defensive front during season-ending press conferences this week. The Packers have invested expensive draft capital and millions of dollars in cap space to the front, but the results — especially this season — were underwhelming, and Rebrovich is taking the fall.

The goal for the next defensive line coach will be maximizing the production of Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Lukas Van Ness and the other young talent up front for the Packers in 2025.
