Packers lose 22-10 to Eagles in NFC Wild Card Round

The Green Bay Packers started slow, imploded often, suffered several injuries and lost 22-10 to the Philadelphia Eagles in a playoff game that followed the script of so many of Green Bay’s defeats during the 2024 season.

The 2024 season is now over for the Packers, who lost three straight games to end the year.

Matt LaFleur’s team often looked “good” but never reached the “great” tier. Self-inflicted wounds and missed opportunities ended up being the theme of the season, especially in big games.

The Packers finished 0-6 against the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. They had two shots at each team but lost all six, and they trailed by at least two scores in all six games.

On Sunday in Philadelphia, the Packers turned the ball over four times, including a fumble from Keisean Nixon on the opening kickoff. Jordan Love threw three interceptions, including two in the first half as the Packers fell behind 10-0. Green Bay also committed eight penalties.

The Packers lost left guard Elgton Jenkins, defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt, receiver Romeo Doubs, receiver Jayden Reed and center Josh Myers to injuries. Running back Josh Jacobs was in and out of the lineup late. Jenkins’ injury was especially crippling; backups Travis Glover and Kadeem Telfort struggled mightily against a talented Eagles front.

The Packers closed the gap to 16-10 to start the fourth quarter but failed to score and failed to get stops.

The game effectively ended on Love’s final interception, an easy pick in the end zone from Quinyon Mitchell on a throw intended for Bo Melton.

The Packers were 11-4 and rolling after beating the New Orleans Saints 34-0 on Dec. 23. LaFleur’s team lost their final three games, falling to the Vikings, Chicago Bears and Eagles in consecutive weeks to end the 2024 season.
